COVID Facility Update

In order to safely continue operating our facility, we will be requiring everyone to show proof of full vaccination for Covid-19.  “Fully vaccinated” means at least two weeks have passed after your final dose of a vaccine authorized by the World Health Organization or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Proof of vaccination requirement:

  • All who enter our facility ages 12 and up must show proof of full Covid-19 vaccination.  Starting November 22nd, we will only allow those fully vaccinated in the facility.
  • Proof of full vaccination includes the following documentation indicating that at least two weeks have elapsed since you received your final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized (including emergency authorization) by the FDA:
    • A Vaccination Card issued by the CDC or a foreign governmental jurisdiction which includes the name of the person vaccinated, the type of vaccine provided, and the date(s) the dose or doses were administered;
    • A clear photo or copy of a Vaccination Card either as a hardcopy or stored on a phone or electronic device; or
    • Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider; or
    • A personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California and available by going to or similar documentation issued by another state, local, or foreign governmental jurisdiction
    • Photo id may be required at time of verification if you do not have an updated photo on file with us.
  • You only need to show your proof of vaccination to a staff member one time.  A note will be placed in your account to show verification for future visits. We will NOT be storing photos of your card.
  • Youth under age 12 who are ineligible for vaccination may still participate in approved activities, while following all CDC/LA County Health Department protocols.
  • Parents or guardians bringing children in for swim lessons must show proof of vaccination each time to enter the pool deck and/or watch from the hall.
  • Parents or guardians coming for dropoff/pickup from daycare/daycamp will NOT need to show proof of vaccination.
  • Members who are not vaccinated may cancel their membership. The YMCA will waive the joining fees for members who return within one year
If you have any questions or concerns, or believe you qualify for an exemption, please contact Johanna Kracke, Healthy Living Director.

COVID Facility Update

With the continued public health concern around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Delta variant, the Santa Monica Family YMCA wants to assure you that our main concern is the health and safety of our members and staff.  Our staff is working hard to ensure everyone is following the L.A. County Health Department Orders:

Proper use of face coverings is required at all times

  • To ensure the safety of all, face coverings must be worn inside the Y
  • Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth at all times
  • Those who fail to comply will be asked to leave
  • If this policy is difficult for you, we will be happy to put your membership  on freeze until the health order is removed

Here are additional precautions we are taking at the Y:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces with increased frequency
  • Ensuring wipes and hand sanitizers are available for member use as needed
  • Elevating staff awareness and establishing clear guidelines so that staff can help members stay healthy
  • Facility use is restricted to members only, no guest passes or visitors may use the facility at this time
  • All staff are vaccinated and encouraged to stay home if they are sick

Please help us by:

  • Staying home if you are sick or have symptoms with a cough
  • Washing and sanitizing your hands before and after using equipment
  • Refraining from touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wiping down machines and equipment with disinfectant after each use

Please understand, in the event that we are unable to adequately or safely staff a program, we will cancel it and continue to inform you of any new Y protocols.
