Youth & Government

The YMCA is a cause-driven organization that focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. California YMCA Youth & Government is an integral part of the YMCA movement and has been providing service to local YMCAs for 70 years. We now engage close to 5,000 high school and middle school youth from across the state each year, in programs emphasizing civic engagement.
Youth & Government is designed for 9th-12th graders and provides life skills necessary for their future careers, whether they are involved with legislature, court, or any other professional field. This dynamic program also focuses on building friendships, socializing, and having fun! During each conference delegates will have a chance to hangout with friends, attend dances, play games, and create new friendships that will last a lifetime.
Next Session: September 2025 – March 2026
The Santa Monica Delegation of Y&G helps students develop critical thinking skills to help them succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Through experiential and service learning, students will gain confidence, an understanding of their community, and learn how civic participation at a local level can create a real impact in their community. This year’s program model will include mandatory volunteer service hours and workshop engagements (to be announced), covering college planning, resume building, and community advocacy. Featured community leaders will help delegates build their proposals and provide feedback during the bill writing process.
2025 Conferences:
  • Regional Conference: Camp Bob from 11/7-11/10
  • State Conference: Sacramento from 2/23-2/16

Model United Nations

The Model United Nations program provides teen members and adult leaders (Middle School /6th-8th Graders) with a greater appreciation for our global community through hands-on involvement with international issues and solutions. The culminating conference, the General Assembly, is geared toward developing teen members’ international consciousness through role play as they represent one of the members of the United Nations. No prior knowledge of international affairs or public speaking is necessary. A desire to learn new things, have new adventures, and meet new friends is mandatory!

Model United Nations is in session March – May. We look forward to meeting you next Spring!

Teen Fit Orientations

Emphasis will be placed on safety protocols, correct form, and appropriate use of the machines. The instructor will also provide valuable tips on creating a well-rounded workout routine and understanding the importance of rest and recovery.
