When you give to the Y’s Annual Campaign, you are helping young people strive to achieve their full potential, empowering people of all ages to lead healthier lives, and giving a helping hand to those who need the Y most.

The Y’s Annual Campaign raises funds to provide scholarships and financial assistance for those who need the Y most. These scholarships give kids, families and adults the opportunity to pay program and membership fees so that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y.

Our Local Impact

Last year, the success of the Y’s 2023 Annual Campaign empowered the Y to offer over $104,675 in scholarships and financial aid to youth, adults and families to participate in the Y’s life enhancing programs and activities. This investment translated into benefited 885 youth, adults and families with program experiences and membership to learn, grow and thrive together.

Funds raised through the annual campaign helped support a record number of 5,515 after school sessions for children of working parents, 932 youth participating in basketball learning sportsmanship, and a post pandemic record of 260 swim lessons teaching a critical lifelong safety skill.

The 2023 Annual Campaign also helped fund resident camping for youth. The Santa Monica Y’s Camp Big Bear welcomed 1,700 youth The local Santa Monica based day camp programs engaged 594 children.

Every contribution to the Santa Monica Family YMCA fuels our mission driven programs to strengthen our Santa Monica community through nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living for all ages, and bringing people together to lend a helping hand to those that need the Y most.

Robert’s journey as a senior member is inspirational. He has been part of our community for over four years and has enthusiastically embraced the Y’s fitness facilities. He enjoys the free weights room, pool and the steam and sauna facilities—a testament to his commitment to holistic wellness. Beyond the physical benefits, Robert cherishes the warm, supportive community here, where both members and staff enjoy the comradery and support of the Y family. Notably, Robert credits his workouts and self-care as the cornerstone of his overall health and well-being journey.

Jackie’s journey at the YMCA serves as a remarkable testament to resilience and the power of community. After overcoming two hip fractures, her dedication to fitness found a nurturing home at the YMCA, supported by Y friends including Armand and Annie. Jackie credits the Y’s aquatic center as the perfect space for rehabilitation and exercise. The aquatics center also serves as a cherished place for special moments with her son Rich who also swims and is active at the Y. Jackie’s story is an example of how the YMCA fosters not only physical well-being but also keeps families engaged, and connected.

Leroy’s experience at the Y is truly inspiring. Having been a member for over ten years enjoying the fitness facilities, Leroy appreciates the rich diversity of people he encounters at the Y. His transformation has been incredible: from struggling with health issues, he has become fit and trimmed down achieving vibrant health, all thanks to his dedication and the supportive environment of the Y. This profound change didn’t just improve his physical health; it reignited his passion for learning, leading him to earn his BA and become a beloved math instructor for youth. Leroy’s journey is an inspirational reminder that dedication and support, can reshape one’s life- physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.
