Fall at The Y: Your Home Away From Home

Fall at The Y: Your Home Away From Home

Rise at The Y. Thrive at The Y. Together at The Y.

As we settle into our fall routines, the Santa Monica Family YMCA is here to be your home away from home. Whether it’s family time, reconnecting with friends, or finding a personal rhythm of wellness, the Y is the place where belonging comes naturally.

Family Time at the Y

The pool remains a hub of connection, where open swimming or lessons turn learning into skills and confidence. Our youth programs provide after‑school experiences that feel like a village, fostering confidence and teamwork. On weekdays, families trust us for after school enrichment including our Audre Slater Foundation Makerspace or adults enjoy our gym or fitness classes, while their children play in our Child Watch as a member benefit. Seasonal events, movie nights, and workshops ensure that every month brings a chance to connect with your community.

Social Connections for Adults & Active Older Adults

For adults and active older adults, the Y is a place to move, learn, and belong. Low‑impact fitness classes, balance training, and aquatic workouts make wellness accessible for every stage of life. Coffee socials, walking clubs, and learning talks open the door to new friendships, while makerspace workshops and volunteer opportunities encourage personal growth and meaningful connections.

Impact So Far in 2025 (January–June)

In the first half of 2025, our Y community grew stronger together. Membership climbed by 12%, and monthly gate visits increased by 15%, showing the momentum of our shared commitment. Through our partnership with the Red Cross Bridge Program, we supported over 500 individuals and welcomed 2,000+ visitors during times of urgent need. Healthy Kids Day brought more than 400 attendees, with special care for families recovering from local fires. Facility improvements included a refreshed Community Room, a remodeled Women’s Second‑Floor Sauna, and the ribbon‑cutting of the Audre Slater Foundation Makerspace, made possible by a generous gift. Our Annual Campaign achieved victory in April, and gifts from Albertsons and ZipRecruiter helped ensure more scholarships, safety, and opportunities for neighbors in need.

What’s Next & How You Can Be A YMCA Ambassador

As fall unfolds, we invite you to make the Y part of your daily rhythm. Re‑join or bring a friend to experience the difference. Volunteer a few hours a month as a mentor, greeter, or social host. Consider giving to ensure that every neighbor has access to programs that support safety, wellness, and belonging.

This fall, think of the Y as your home away from home; a place where we rise, thrive, and serve together.
