Our YMCA Personal Trainers have one or more of the following certifications:
- American Council on Exercise (ACE)
- American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
- National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology

PERSONAL TRAINING POLICIES
- For liability reasons, only personal trainers employed by the YMCA are allowed to train clients at the Y.
- Members will be charged for no show or for appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled session.
- Sessions expire 6 months from purchase.
- Services exchanged or direct payment to the trainer is not permitted and will result in loss of services.
- Personal training sessions are non-transferable, and non-refundable, including partner sessions.
- The YMCA reserves the right to assign alternative personal trainers if necessary.

MEET OUR TRAINING STAFF
Johanna Kracke, CPT
Wellness Coordinator/Personal Trainer
Johanna has worked as a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor for over 13 years, and with a Masters degree in exercise science she is ready to help with all your fitness needs. Johanna is experienced in teaching yoga, cycle, and boot camp/circuit classes. She is also certified as a Pre and Post Natal fitness coach, and as an Exercise Is Medicine Level 2 Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer (American College of Sports Medicine) she has extensive experience working with clients with chronic diseases and musculoskeletal injuries. Johanna is an absolute believer in the power of exercise to improve and change lives.
Sherry East, CPT
Sherry is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and has worked for the Santa Monica YMCA for 8 years as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. Sherry works with clients of all ages and abilities and specializes in: core strength, balance exercises, clean eating programs, flexibility, weight loss, circuit training and weight lifting. She lives in the Santa Monica area where she also coaches her son’s soccer team.
Maurkice Palmore, CPT
Maurkice has been a member of the Y for ten years and has worked in membership here for two. His favorite thing about the Y is getting immersed into different areas, while meeting a diverse group of people. He is motivated to train people of all ages, abilities, and lifestyles. Maurkice’s own fitness journey all started when he discovered the influence that exercise can have on a person, not only physically but mentally as well. He personally worked his way into losing over 70 pounds. That journey motivated him to want to help others to better their lifestyle. Maurkice is now certified as a trainer through The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), while additionally having a degree in social and behavioral science. His main focuses in training are working on muscle imbalances, hypertrophy and strength development.
Rosalynn “Roz” Ross, CPT
Roz started her fitness career in Aquatics at YMCA in Evanston, Illinois in 1999 where she taught swimming and water aerobics. She then branched out to fitness on land by obtaining clients from water aerobics classes. She moved to California to complete a degree in Nutritional and Exercise Science and starting classes at SMC. She is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and her specialty is weight loss with muscle toning.
