Spring 2020 Season Youth Basketball League

Co-ed YMCA Basketball League for youth ages 5 – 14.  Get your child involved in the Y’s skill based basketball league.  Games are held on Saturdays or Sundays. Teams practice once or twice a week on a weekday.

 

 

New players must attend the skills evaluation.

Ages 5-6:   Monday, March 16 4:00-5:30pm

Ages 7-8:  Monday, March 16  6:00-7:00pm

Ages 9-10:  Tuesday, March 17 4:30-5:30pm

Ages 11 and up:  Tuesday, March 17  6:00-7:00pm

Make-up evaluations for all ages:  Wednesday, March 18  5:00-6:00pm

Mandatory Parent Meeting:  Wednesday, March 18 at 6:30pm in the Community Room

Climbing Clubs – for ages 6 and older

Young climbers will increase strength stamina and self esteem as they challenge their way to the top. Climbing Clubs takes place on our 27 foot Climbing wall in the Y’s Gymnasium.

Fridays — 4:30-5:15 pm

Members: $120
Non-Members: $225

Our program is designed to encourage the student to participate within a group atmosphere that fosters team building
and self-confidence. The student will learn about sportsmanship, self-defense, and the four core values of the YMCA —
Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, and Respect

The Japanese word “Judo” literally means the “gentle way”. Balance, timing, strategy and tactics, are essential
characteristics of this sport and art. Flexibility, stretching and strength exercises are part of every Judo practice. Judo
is a fun high-energy activity as well as a relaxing and calming exercise.

• According to the American College of Sports Medicine, Judo is the safest contact sport for children under age 13.

Santa Monica Family YMCA membership is required
Youth & Team dues are $35/month
PAYMENT OPTIONS – Fees withdrawn on the 5th of each month
Pay Plan I– Auto withdraw, automatically withdraw Judo monthly payments using card on file with membership.
Pay Plan II– Auto withdraw, automatically withdraw Judo monthly payments from a designated credit card.

When are classes held?
Juniors:    Tuesdays, 4-6PM & Saturdays 1-3pm
Team Practice:    Thursdays 4-6pm & Saturdays 3-5pm

The Y’s Sports Skills Classes introduces youth (ages 3-6) to sports, teaches teamwork, and increases gross motor skills, while having fun and staying active! Each Session runs for 8 weeks.

Mondays and Fridays 3:45-4:15 pm in the Basketball Gym

Kid Fit is for youth 6-12 years old. The Patton Gym’s soft place surface and climbing structures provides a fun place for youth to be active and develop gross motor skills such as balance and coordination. The supervised play time provides fun fitness for your child while you workout or attend adult fitness classes. Kid Fit Program Schedule Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays Year-round from 4:00-6:00pm.

Kid Fit is available for Y members only.  10 youth are permitted in the room at one time. Parents or guardians must sign their child in and may not leave the facility while child is participating in the Kid Fit program.
